A marketing exercise for you

Hey [FORMATTED_FIRST_NAME GOES HERE],

Hope you're gearing up for a good weekend!

Wanted to share a quick marketing exercise with you.

If you've never truly done this, carve out 15 minutes for it soon.

Trust me, this is the kind of stuff that supreme clarity comes from.

EXERCISE:

If you speak to EVERYONE, you'll wind up attracting NO ONE.

So I want you to define these 3 things:

Primary Target Audience
↳ Who you are best positioned to serve and want 100 more of

Secondary Target Audience
↳ Who you can also serve with relative ease, but not necessarily who you want

Tertiary Target Audience
↳ Who you will spend no energy on, but may end up attracting anyway

Why 3 audiences?

Because your primary audience is who you'll focus 90% of your content and messaging toward.

Your secondary audience will also come to you, and that's ok, but they're not who you're speaking directly to.

And you'll know that your tertiary audience does not need to be a point of focus for your messaging.

You can do this in Notion, Google Docs, Apple notes, pen + paper....or whereever!

The point is...

You simply CANNOT have effective marketing without laying this foundation.

I hope this helps.

Send me a reply if you do the exercise.

Have a great weekend!

Jeff

Hey there, Just dropping in on a Monday with a fine piece of conversion copywriting analysis. (to help you write better sales copy) See, even though I'm primarily an "email guy'... Every now and then, I've gotta write a sales page. I HATE EM. They're long, tedious, and ya gotta be precise. BUT you must know... A sales page can make or break your product sales. A good page makes writing emails easy because it does ALL the heavy lifting. And that's why we're here today. My friend Lessa did a...

Hey Reader, To get conversions in email, you gotta get more clicks. One way to get more clicks: Reduce the amount of options you give. For example... I see nearly everyone saying this in their emails: "When you're ready, here are 3 ways I can help you." I think this was popularized by Justin Welsh. The problem with it? You're not Justin Welsh, and you can't afford to try. Justin Welsh is so popular and has over 1M followers across his social channels. He has firmly established himself as the...

Hey Reader, I don't know about you, but I've always had a particular itch. Even before I became a marketer in 2019, I had this itch. I alway wanted to work for myself. Forever. And to be honest...I've never really even wanted a team. I've managed teams before...I've been on teams before. It just gets too complicated and too messy. The 'agency' life ain't for me, folks. I prefer freedom. That's why I'm a solopreneur forever. You literally cannot convince me that I cannot be a solopreneur...
